A Year of Celebrations at Joshua Ellis

As 2017 draws to an end, we have taken the opportunity to reflect on the year’s events in the celebration of our 250th anniversary. Throughout the year, we have gathered with clients, agents and employees across the world to appreciate the success of Joshua Ellis over the past 250 years. From trade shows in Milan at Milano Unica, and Première Vision in Paris, to a very special Royal visit from HRH The Princess Royal, President of the UK Fashion and Textile Association. The 250th year anniversary has brought our partners within the textile industry together and as part of the celebrations, we collaborated with Huntsman. Fabrics and throws were manufactured in our Batley mill and proudly displayed in Huntsman’s window, on the iconic Savile Row, London. Joshua Ellis Cashmere has grown from strength to strength throughout the year, continuing to produce some of the most luxurious fabrics and accessories of the finest quality. We would like to thank everyone for their continued support and hard work  –  We will raise our glass to 2018 and another successful year.

New are a beautiful, soft featherweight range in 12 plain shades and 9 designs; the most sumptuous and luxurious double-face stole in 4 subtle tonal variations. Joshua Ellis are Standing Proud on Savile Row

As part of their 250th anniversary year, Joshua Ellis collaborated with Huntsman on a special project. Huntsman, a bespoke tailor of the highest tradition, with a history that stretches back over 167 years, are situated on the iconic Savile Row in London. Like Joshua Ellis, Huntsman has always prided itself on its rich heritage, holding a reputation as one of the finest and most long-standing yet often innovative bespoke houses on Savile Row. Likewise, their extraordinary story serves as a reminder of the integrity, excellence and attention to quality that defines their product. Thus, united by a shared passion for detail and commitment to quality, Joshua Ellis has created a pure cashmere ‘tweed’ inspired by the Huntsman archives. The fabric and throws were manufactured in our Yorkshire mill in Batley, using specialist weaving and finishing techniques. Proudly showcased in the window display of the store: Huntsman & Sons, 11 Savile Row, Mayfair, London, W1S 3PS.

Inspiring V.I.P. visit to Joshua Ellis

We welcomed a group of fabric enthusiasts from London:  Chris Moodo, David Evans, Jamie Ferguson, Jonathan Edwards, Hannah Rigby, James Girdwood and Daisy Knatchbull. to visit our busy mill here in Batley, West Yorkshire. Our V.I.P. guests were from all walks of life: from blogging about style, fabrics and tailoring, a photographer who captures street style tailoring of luxurious fabrics to a 3rd year fashion design student who is setting up their own business upon graduating. Each guest, successful in their own rights, was eager to understand the manufacturing and production process behind the exclusive fabrics we make. Kristie Reeves – design director, presented our guests with a well-informed tour of the mill, describing each production process and showing the machines in action. Everyone at Joshua Ellis had a wonderful day, we enjoyed meeting our guests and learning about them, while informing them about Joshua Ellis Cashmere and the background of our rich heritage. Thank you for coming, we hope to see you all again soon!

Celebrating 250 years at Joshua Ellis

Joshua Ellis is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of luxury cashmere, woollen cloth and accessories and in 2017 we are proud to be celebrating our 250th anniversary.

Our journey began in the mill towns of Yorkshire during Britain’s textile heyday where we carry on the tradition, supplying high quality cloth and accessories to an international market. Artisan skills have been passed down through the generations and our thriving apprenticeship scheme, which covers all aspects of manufacture, design and sales, is bringing new talent into the industry to keep Britain at the forefront of global designer fashion.

Dashing Tweeds

Working hard to create modern urban woven textiles is Dashing Tweeds who take the best from the past and make it modern, interesting and relevant to life today.

Within their studio in East London they design and develop seasonal cloth collections using new woven structures on our hand loom. These are then produced by an appropriate British mill and released twice a year.
